My flat season 2023

Wow!

The Derby Trophy

Hello.

I love going to York for the Dante meeting in May and was lucky enough to see the actual Derby Trophy this year, on a tour. Thanks to a very nice security guy for taking the above photo even though his boss was insisting it was time to move it to a posher area. As I was taking a good look at the trophy, a brilliant silver representation of horses taking Tattenham Corner, a very distinguished looking bloke arrived next to me and we started to chat. It turned out that his father had owned DANTE who won the 1945 Derby, the last Northern trained winner, ridden by the great Billy Nevett who I met years ago at Ripon. Billy new my Mum and I have a photo to prove it. Strange world, eh!

And so to my 2023 flat season and my betting.

I attended 7 race meetings, less than half the number I used to attend before the pandemic. Lots of personal stuff got in the way this year including dodgy weather but I did make it to York, Ripon and Catterick. I had 27 winners including JIMI HENDRIX at 25-1 and ASTRO KING winning the Cambridgeshire at 20-1. Favourite race….MOSTAHDAF winning the Juddmonte at York quite brilliantly with Frankie aboard. Happy retirement, sort of, in California!

So, overall, how did I do this season?

Well, I made a 21% profit!

Not bad, eh!

Thanks for reading. Enjoy the sport and especially the horses.

Happy retirement to PYLEDRIVER.
